Little boys and highlighters....deadly combinations.

Hayden was in the office today and up to no good....but I love him. He runs around the office, watches his videos, and in this case....got into the highlighter and pen drawer.

I don't know why they make white toddler clothes....and I always say that when I put him in white. When will I learn! That highlight was allllll over him!

Hayden sleeping in his own bed

Potty training....check.
We felt pretty confident at trying the 'sleep in your own bed' thing

So we tucked Hayden into bed and waited until he was fully asleep before we felt comfortable in leaving him to sleep alone. We turned on the light in the closet as a night light and left our growing boy (*tear *tear).

At 5 in the morning...Hayden was crying. We ran over to his room and climbed into bed with him to comfort him.

Screw the sleeping alone thing.... Even if he was ready for the next big step, I don't think mommy and daddy are.

Canyon Lakes - June 2010

Amanda was going away to college at West Point....what a wonderful way to send her off and get the entire family together. Chi Tram's family drove all the way from San Diego.....and we all drove in from Houston and Austin to Canyon Lakes-close to New Braunfels. We enjoyed great barbecue, late night chats, fun in the sun....just good quality time! Definitely not a good time to loose my camera charger...urg.... Well these are the pic I have to capture the weekend.
Austin waiting to go out to the lake.
Uncle David gave Nic a 'bug home' thingy....they found the coolest little critter - an insect that looks like a branch- a walking stick. Sorry no pics.
Luke's ready!

Kids inspecting bugs....ew.... Uncle David looking on and not ready for this picture moment. Sorry Uncle David.... I didn't want to crop you out of the picture.

Paulina looks so tired going out to the lake. Don't worry P, you're definitely like your aunt....don't get me out of bed before 10 please....

Who knew there was a body of water in Texas so clean!

Nic....

This boy won't leave home with this racket!

All of the lovely young ladies striking a pose....

Trying to get a pic of all the boys wasn't easy.... especially with Hayden running out of every pic after I throw him in the middle of the group and try to escape....Gotta love it.

Steve flying kites with Hayden, Nic, and Paulina.

Anh Vinny-the best assessory to any camping or outdoor activity. His marinated Korean beef ribs were delish! And as you can see....he's been working out. Chi Trang, you lucky girl...(haa haa)

Nature calls....

On our way to Canyon Lakes for Amanda's going away party reunion....nature calls. Aren't these mini-porter potty the smartest inventions? No need to worry about gross public restrooms. They should make baby bags with one of these attached (haa haa)...maybe not.

Luke Chamberlain's First Birthday.

Tightie Whities

Its potty training time!

Hayden is approaching 3 years old and we decided it was time to potty train him. Toddler underwear is soooo cute! And the potty training toilet is equally cute. When you flush it has the baseball theme song of a home run.

So we set out on a mission and bought 15 toddler under wears and have been training for a couple of days. And yes there are still mistakes....but he has been really good at doing 'pee pee' on command. 'Poo poo' is definitely tougher. We still have to catch him when he's quiet or we find a chocolate bar on the floor (haa haaa).

CHEAPER THAN WALLPAPER

I've been wanting to add an accent wall in the house with a bold color or great wallpaper, but too lazy to paint and too cheap to buy and hire someone to apply the wallpaper.

I found this great wall decal on Etsy.com....one of my favorite websites. So inexpensive and easy.... it took me about 45 mins to apply ten of these vinyl decals.

It adds a designer touch to the powder room and so whimsical and fun! I could definitely get carried away with this one....but will restrain myself.

You can do it......

Its been so long since I've posted anything. With being busy with work, Hayden, and weekends after weekends of events..... its seems harder and harder to get myself to blog. I commend all of you weekend-bloggers on your dedication and must admit that it crossed my mind to quit when it seemed that I have gotten so removed and out of sync...

But I stopped and realized....I can do it ("I can survive" music by Gloria Gaynor playing in my head...lol)

So this blog will be a reminder to me why i should blog.

1. I blog for all of my family and friends who visit the blog to see what we have been up to and what is going through my mind. I must admit that at times I don't have much to say... correction I always have things to say.... maybe I just over analyze what should be in this blog, whether it's even worthy or interesting material for others to read, and thoughts that "man.... my grammar and poor English skills are gonna be revealed"
(yes Tina, my lovely sister, my grammar and run-on sentences are supposed to erk you...ha haa)
And then I'm reminded how much I love reading everyone else's blogs. So as Chi Tram's had said to me in the past..."blog even if its just one sentence."

2. I blog for Hayden. I love the idea of diary or memoir for him to look at one day. It will be a record of everything we have done and allow him see himself in our eyes. I hope it will remind him how much we love him when we seem like the worse parents in the world. And I hope it will remind him who his parents are one day.

3. Lastly, I blog for myself and Steve.
for Me: I really enjoy this "me" time updating my blog. It's actually somewhat therapeutic examining myself and my thoughts. I must admit something so simple like blogging gives me a sense of accomplishment sticking to something.....unlike my diet. That's a whole another blog I don't want to get into now :(
for Steve: He enjoys reading the blogs. I will need to convince him to contribute to it from time to time.

And sooooo....I will continue blogging.
