Grandma & Grandpa's Vacation week

Hayden has been dropped off every morning to Grandma & Grandpa's store for babysitting all of his young years...except for this week. Grandma & Grandpa took a vacation this week and what a nice change for everyone.

Since Grandma & Grandpa live so far from us, Steve and I decided to spend the entire week down there so we wouldn't have to drive back and forth so often. And as much as I dread driving.... we have had such a great time spending time with all of the kids, Grandma & Grandpa, and my other siblings. As we rush out of our offices to see Hayden, we are greeted with the biggest hugs and sweet kisses from our son. He has had a fun-filled day that gives us a warm, fuzzy feeling inside as well. Other perks: a hot, home cooked meal I didn't have to make, clothes from my sister's closet (its like a whole new wardrobe...yeah), and cleaning... its seems like I didn't have to lift a finger.

Most of all, it seems like Hayden has grown overnight. Although still a little squeamish when we have to leave for work....he seems to understand and is more behaved. He is also bonding well with his cousins which is how we are trying to pull him out of his shell (or his bubble...) Grandma takes him to the park which he loves, and he enjoys gardening and being outdoors every chance he can get. He even picked up a couple words recently!

We are in the process of selling our parent's store. Its been 25 + years now and definitely over due. Our fingers are crossed that this transaction will go through....because its nice to see the retirement bunnies in Grandma & Grandpa.

Trevor comes to visit

It was a great weekend seeing our old college roommate Trevor Nabholtz! In April of 2004 he was one of Steve's bestmen at our wedding. We enjoyed catching up like old days.

We paraded Trevor around town like our long, lost brother and since it was Mother's day weekend, we visited both sides of our families. You should have seen mom's face (Steve's mom) when I pulled into the driveway with this white man sitting in the passenger seat...priceless.

Trevor still lives in California and splits his time between Saratoga and Lodi, CA. He is now married and a successful owner of a MRI Imaging Center. Trev is one of our dearest friends and soon-to-be new father. We can't wait to meet his new family in October as he and Joanna exchange their vows again.

We love him!

Hiding Hayden's toys

Always trying to meld the role of mother and amateur interior designer.... I'm constantly trying to find ways to streamline the home and clear some of the clutter. And as much as I love Hayden having access to his toys... the mess is sometimes an eye sore. So I found this great Crate and Barrel storage ottoman at my favorite online store- CRAIGSLIST (hee hee)-for $75 to satisfy our needs. Yes, its white and not really kid friendly. But I'm hoping a couple cans of Scotchguard and Mr. Clean's Magic eraser will do the trick.

Next up- tackling the piles of shoes at the door...
