KNOCK ON WOOD

Just a few days before this incident, we were telling Steve's parents that our poisonous lion fish is completely safe. When we clean the tank we put our hand inside all of the time...no problem.

Until today....

Steve had decided to buy a few smaller fish, cardinals, to put into the tank. One of the precautions about introducing new fish to a tank with a large lion fish is not to buy anything too small that can fit into its mouth. As soon as he releases them into the tank, our curious lion fish swarms up looking for dinner. As Steve tried to hit the front glass to scare the lion fish away it really didn't do anything. He inadvertently splashes the water on the top of the tank and swipes two of his fingers onto the poisonous spikes.

BIG OPPS....

He held his hand in so much pain as I googled a remedy, called a couple of aquarium specialists, even called the 1.800 number for Marine Poison Control in Florida.
While soaking his hand in hot water (one of the remedies) , I told him it was going to be the WORST PAIN he was going to experience for 2-3 hours according to the experts.... he screamed..."go upstairs and get the money... you gotta take me to the emergency room" (funny note... when he said to get the money it was like get everything we have....our life savings....EVERYTHING! I DON'T CARE HOW MUCH IT IS GONNA COST....ha haaa)

So I took him to the local Urgent Care Center in Bellaire because we were not going to mess with the Hospital Emergency Rooms and wait for hours. By that time and pain had gotten a bit more tolerable but we went ahead and got a morphine shot. The entire time I'm thinking...you don't know anything about pain.... I gave birth to Hayden completely drug-free, fool...haa haaa.

Finger was swollen for a few days and all is ok now. We still have a chuckle about it especially about how mean and grouchy he was! We now know how ridiculous he would be if he was in labor! Ice chips honey???
